Wordy Wednesday: Winged Visitors

Look who’s flown into my life this week! First, I finished a little something for a little someone who is turning two years old. (Is it really possible that is has been two years already?)

If you’re a knitting sort of person, definitely check out the designer’s blog, needled, which contains a blend of Scottish locale and lore, knitting design and reflections on recovering from a stroke as a relatively young, healthy person. Very interesting.

Then I went to the library and picked up a bookI had put on hold for me. Yesterday morning began with a cup of black coffee and several long, quiet moments reading poetry while Claire played by herself. It was unexpected and wonderful.

After that, we discovered a little treasure at the bottom of a drawer full of handcarved buttons. I love shopping at Maiwa Supply – the woman working there opened up a huge drawer of buttons and let both girls dig through it while I examined the yarn. WIN. owl button

Have you made any unexpected discoveries lately?

    Have I? Have I? I can’t think of any.

Your owl sweater (sweater — yes?) is just lovely. Wow.

Visiting from Natural Parents Network and Momma Jorje!

I love button collections! I used to pick them up at estate sales and I’ve inherited some as well. My mom, sister and I had fun going through our collections and trading buttons, too. We also got my DD started on her own little collection. They’re so fun!

I totally love buttons too. One of my favourite things to do as a kid was to dig through my mom’s button tins, and it’s such fun to watch Bea doing the same thing now.
