Wordless Wednesday: What I did on Solstice

Yesterday I asked about Solstice traditions, then decided to make a few new traditions in our family.

We decorated our mantle for summer.

I bought some seeds and veggie plants.

We ate dinner at the beach. (Thanks for the idea, Cynthia!) It doesn’t look like much in the photo, but we had lasagna, baked potatoes and strawberries. Yum.

We played in the summer sunshine.

All in all, a pretty great Solstice, although a bonfire would have been a pretty awesome way to end the day (Thanks for the idea Kirsten!).

    Hurrah for a lovely solstice!

And what on earth do you do with purslane? I know that we’re going to get some in our CSA share this summer, and I did not put it to great use last summer….

What fun traditions! Your dinner sounds delicious. We had roast beef sandwiches, veggies, fruit, and zucchini muffins. What a warm and sunny day it was to celebrate the first day of summer! :)
