25 Things to do When You’re Stuck Indoors with Little Kids on a Winter Day

1. Bake Cookies
2. Sing a silly song
3. Build snowmen out of clay
4. Write a letter to santa
5. Draw pictures of what you dreamed about last night
6. Rearrange the furniture
7. Read stories
8. Play Starfall
9. Make Soup
10. Have a nap
11. Invent and colour a new species, “killer horses,” and discuss in detail their habitat, family organization and hunting strategy
12. Do a few telephone errands
13. Watch for birds at the bird feeder
14. Identify any exotic looking birds (we saw a Stellar’s Jay!  two, in fact.)
15. Dust behind the furniture (pairs well with #6)
16. Fold laundry
17. Play chase
18. Let the person who is least sick play outside and bang on the pots and pans on the porch instead of in the kitchen
19. Do a puzzle
20. Write to your friends and cancel tomorrow’s playdate due to today’s feverish child
21. Go on an expedition and search for mama’s lost slippers (Which occupied all of 10 seconds – Bea said, “I think I remember where you put those,” turned around, and pulled them from their home on the shoe rack.  Little kids have razor sharp memories.)
22. Throw some leftovers together for dinner
23. Eat ice cream with three kinds of sprinkles on it
24. Celebrate when daddy finally gets home
25. Snuggle up under the duvet and hope for healthy children tomorrow
